Connect the IN2 wire ( Green wire ) to the Digital pin 3 of the Arduino board ( Picture 4 ).Connect the IN1 wire ( Blue wire ) to the Digital pin 2 of the Arduino board ( Picture 4 ).Connect the other end of the Ground wire( Black wire ) to Ground pin of the Arduino board ( Picture 3 ).Connect the Female End of another Female-Male Power wire ( Red wire ) to the 5V power pin of the Arduino board ( Picture 3 ).

Connect the Female end of a Female-Male Power ( Red wire ), to the Power(+) pin of the Stepper Driver Module ( Picture 2 ).

Connect Female-Female Ground ( Black wire ), to the Ground(-) pin the Stepper Driver Module ( Picture 2 ).

Connect one end of Female-Female jumper wires ( Blue, Green, Yellow and Orange wires ) to the IN1 to IN4 pins of the Stepper Driver ( Picture 1 ).

If not already connected, plug the Stepper Motor connector into the Driver Board.

The encoder with interrupts code (by Simon Merrett) : static int pinA = 2 // Our first hardware interrupt pin is digital pin 2 So my question is : is it possible to use those interrupts ONLY when I'm in the 'fine tune' mode ? All modes are currently in separate functions (void), and activated via a menu. My understanding is that the arduino is too busy watching the state of the interrupt pins 2 and 3, and can't execute all the steps necessary to achieve high speed. When I add this code it interfers with the speed control mode : the stepper is MUCH slower and vibrates like hell. I used this piece of code to read the encoder with interrupts, which works wonderfully because the reading of the encoder is always accurate, no matter at what speed I turn the encoder. I want to add a 'fine tune' mode, to refine the position with a rotary encoder : if I turn it X times right, the stepper goes X steps on the right, and the opposite. The number of steps taken is displayed, giving me the position. I wrote a program to control a stepper with two modes : timelapse (1 step every X time) and speed control (speed and direction controlled by a potentiometer).
